As a young girl, I grew up on a farm.  We had everything from pigs, cows, mules, and chickens.  We grew all of our own vegetables and meat.  I did chores just like anyone else that was raised on a farm, from weeding the garden, to feeding the pigs or milking the cows.

We never attended church very often, but when I was about 10 a neighbor started taking me to a small Baptist church.  I was baptized in that church two years later.  The neighbor moved and I never attended church again until I was in college and friends invited me to go with them.

In college, God placed in my life the most wonderful man that would later become my husband and allow us to share the last 36 years together.  Dan was raised in the church so after we had our first child we started attending the Methodist church in Monett.

Our daughter Stephanie and our son Christopher were both raised in the United Methodist Church in Monett. They were also married in that church.

It was in 2007 that I felt a call into ministry.  I didn’t know exactly what it would be, but I gave up my job in the health care field and went into ministry at the Monett Methodist church.  I started out as the Education Director and it eventually morphed into family ministry and missions with an emphasis on outreach.

God wasn’t through with me yet.  I continued to feel a stronger call on my life and stepped into the role of Associate Pastor at the Monett Church.  In this transition of life, my kids were now grown and I decided to go back to school.  I attended Drury University for two more years as well as taking seminary classes in Kansas City.

I came to Cassidy in 2013 as the Pastor and realized that God had put me just where I needed to be.  It has led me to a life of meeting amazing, Christ centered people who has a great joy to share with all about God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ.

As we continue to look at the future for Cassidy, I believe that God has great things in store for Cassidy.  I am so glad that he brought me along for the journey.

Grace and Peace to each of you.

I'm Suzanne Epperly and now a part of the Cassidy Ministry Team as the Assistant to the Pastor. I have been a member here at Cassidy since 2005 and previously attended a large Methodist church in Springfield. I am so excited to be a part of the team as I will focus on member care, connecting with others,  and one of my favorites-Prayer. I am also provide adult Sunday school classes, Advent and Lenten studies, Wednesday night Bible study, and any other small group as an idea comes forward. If there is an area of ministry you would like to see here at Cassidy, please let me know. We are always trying to find a place of ministry for each member.

My family includes my husband of 38 years, Jerry, our son Jared, his wife Ashley and their daughters Hayden and Rylie. Also a son Jeffrey, his wife Megan, and their daughters Maddix, Kennedi, and Ava. Being a grandma is SO much fun! Susan Mellentine Susan Mellentine, Director of Family and Children's Ministry

Hello! My name is Susan Mellentine and I am SO excited to be a part of the Cassidy team! My family and I have attended Cassidy for the past few years and I have been involved as a singer of the worship team in the Momentum service since it first started in 2014. My husband, Chad, and I have been married for 13 years and we have two wonderful children, Kaylee, who is ten, and Dylan, who is seven. They are the light of my life and the biggest reason I am so excited to be in this position. I grew up in the church as my mother was a choir director and being a part of a church family provided me some of the best experiences and memories growing up. I want to create the same not only for my children, but for all the children and families within Cassidy.

I was the owner/director of a preschool here in Nixa and while I felt so blessed at the success of what I built, it also took away from my family. After much prayer, I made the decision to sell my business and from there God took over providing me this opportunity to continue to work with children and families. I have loved the last couple of years serving our children and families. I absolutely LOVE children and being able to help them grow in their faith is something that I feel so passionate about! Not only do I want to provide more opportunities for children involvement, but I also hope to provide opportunities for family and community involvement and connection. I believe that they all intertwine and want to create an environment where no matter what age you have the opportunity to connect within our church. Through this position, I am so excited to see what God has planned for Cassidy and I look forward to getting to know you and your family better!

  • Billy Thomas, Director of Youth and Outreach

Billy Thomas Billy Thomas, Director of Youth and Outreach

Hi my name is Billy Thomas and I am the new Director of Outreach and Missions here at Cassidy UMC. I've been a member of Cassidy for the past 6 1/2 years. My family and I love it here and really love our church family.  Everyone has made us feel at home.  Lori and I made our move to Nixa, Mo. from Dixon, Il. with our two daughters Kelsi and Karli.  Our Cassidy family has made the transition so smooth. We couldn’t have asked for a better church family!

Just a little bit about myself:  I was raised by my mother in the Chicago area. I have spent a majority of my working life as a Motor Coach Operator (Bus driver) out of the Chicago area. This was a great job for me, it helped me to come out of my shell and become the people person I am today. This job allowed me to do many missions trips with the youth and I feel that will benefit me in the role I am embarking on here at the church.

I met Lori in 1985 and we were married in 1986. We managed to raise four great kids, even though I was away from home, a lot. Our kids ages range from 16 to 28.  Our two sons, Rafe and Brian, still live around the Dixon, Il. area.  Our two daughters, Kelsi and Karli, live with us here in Nixa. Lori, the girls and I moved to Missouri to run a motor coach company and we can't see ourselves any place else. Lori and I look forward to bringing our grandkids to visit our church family, that is when one of our kids decide it is time to give us one....no pressure.

My position here at the church will consist of mission projects that will include both youth and adults.  These missions will be local and abroad.  I will also be focusing on outreach projects around the area for the youth and adults.  I am looking forward to working with the Ozark food Harvest, volunteering at Convoy of Hope and other local help agencies for preparation work before needs arise.  I also look forward to getting us involved in disaster relief projects.

I look forward to my new position here at Cassidy and I welcome any input you would like to offer me.

My name is Stacy Thompson. I have lived in the Springfield/Rogersville/Ozark area nearly my whole life. I originally became the Nursery Director at Cassidy in 2006.  My husband Todd and I were married here at Cassidy in March 2007. We moved to Anchorage, AK in 2009 where we lived for 2 years.  I returned to Cassidy as the Nursery Director in January 2013. I love taking care of our babies and toddlers. They are so much fun. I enjoy watching them grow and move up to our Children’s Ministry. In August 2016, I began assisting with our youth. Working with our youth has been an adventure. They are an amazing group of young adults who truly love God.

My husband Todd and I currently live in Ozark with our Yorkie/Poodle/Pomeranian/Shih Tzu named Betsy Lynn.  I enjoy watching University of Alabama football and NASCAR races.  During the summer you’ll find me most weekends cruising the lake on our boat.

I was born in Sydney, New York, lived in Rhode Island, and Maryland before moving to Missouri when my dad retired from the navy. I have loved all types of music from high school to college, where I graduated with a degree in vocal music. I taught k-12 music for 29 years, and for two years in alternative school. I have been the choir director at Cassidy UMC for 14 years, and have enjoyed watching the choir grow from eight people to the wonderful group we have today.  I have been married to Mike for 43 years, have two grown children who have firmly told me that there will be no grandchildren.

Ericca Roberts Ericca Roberts, Worship Band Leader

I’m Ericca Roberts, and I am the worship band leader here at Cassidy.

Originally from Van Buren, Arkansas, I moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas for college at the University of Arkansas. There, I met my wonderful husband, Jefferson Roberts, who also helps out part-time with audio and visual for our church services.

In the summer of 2016, my husband and I decided to settle here in Southwest Missouri and found Cassidy United Methodist Church. Upon arriving, we had a sense that this church would be our home church, and we wanted to be more involved, so I inquired about being involved in the contemporary worship band. I dare not say it was coincidence—but rather God’s perfect timing— that there was need for a new worship leader.I accepted the exciting opportunity to be involved with Cassidy in this way. Since then, the band has grown from two members to five (and counting!) and the experience has been wonderful!

In the past, I have lead worship for The Upper Room Ministry, an outreach ministry in Fort Smith, Arkansas for over three years. I also sang and played the piano at Genesis Church, a local Methodist church in Fayetteville, Arkansasas a member of their praise team.

I believe that music can set the tone for whatever situation/event we encounter in life. I also believe that music serves as a great factor in worship. Psalm 98:1 says to “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things,” and marvelous things He has done indeed!

If you’re ever in the neighborhood, stop by and join us for a time of worship and the Word on Sundays at 9 a.m. or on Thursday nights during band practice at 6:30 p.m.

Until then, “[May] The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26 ESV)

Hello! I am Kristen Tucker and I am the Bell Choir director here at Cassidy! I am very new to the Cassidy family, but I am absolutely thrilled to be here. I also serve on the worship team where I play guitar, ukulele, and sing. I am a freshman at Evangel University in Springfield and I am majoring in Early Childhood Education. I grew up in a small United Methodist church my whole life, so being at Cassidy feels like home away from home. Home, for me, is a small town called Heyworth in central Illinois. When I am not in Missouri going to school, I will probably be in Illinois playing guitar and singing with my friends and family at my church there. I am extremely excited and blessed to have found Cassidy and have such an amazing church home away from home!

  • Darby Bunch, Lay Leader

Darby Bunch Darby Bunch, Lay Leader

Hi, my name is Darby Bunch. I currently serve the church as a Certified Lay Minister. A what? A Certified Lay Minister serves the congregation as a member of the ministry team, but is neither ordained nor can bless sacraments. I have lived in the area almost my entire life (except for those few years of seeing the world in the US Navy). I was born in Marshfield, MO and spent my adolescent years at Marshfield UMC. After moving to Ozark in the late 1990’s, I became a firefighter for Ozark where I would later meet the most beautiful lady in the world, Vanessa. We started dating around 2003 and she asked me to come to church with her here at Cassidy. I fell in love with the family feeling of the church and I have attended since. We were married in the old chapel, had our children Dylan, 12 and Andrew & Isabelle, 6 baptized here, and I found my calling here. Cassidy has been instrumental in the best 13 years of my life. My career as a nurse has helped me expand my call to ministry and has provided me moments to share God’s gift to my life with others. In the free time I rarely find, I enjoy sports, movies, and I am looking forward to becoming involved in bicycling adventures.

As CLM my areas of focus will be creating more ways for our younger adults to become involved. We have a rapidly growing young adult population and I want Cassidy to be more than just a place where “the kids love attending.” I am always looking for new faces to join the lay ministry. If you feel God is asking you to share your gifts, but you are unsure just how, let me know and together we can explore various ways to be involved. Connect… Grow… Serve…

Hi, I'm Amy Hobson. I am the proud single mother of two awesome boys, Joshua and Dawson. We relocated to Ozark area from Kansas City back in 2011.

Soon afterwards, we met some great members of Cassidy UMC, who invited us to attend service. We were greeted with such warmth and compassion.

I knew this was the church for us.  My sons were baptized and we became members that same year. We are proud to call Cassidy our family and are

excited to see what the future holds in store for our awesome church.
