Welcome to Cassidy United Methodist Church. There are many ways to get involved within our church to provide opportunity for fellowship and spiritual growth. Below you will find information on the many different ministries offered.
This is not an attempt to supplant the success of Cassidy United Methodist Men, but rather engage men of Cassidy in different areas of interest. The primary focus of the group will be connecting with God in the outdoors. Learning more about God through study, connecting with other members through fellowship, focusing on outdoor adventures; camping, biking, hiking, etc. We look forward to the adventures God will place for us in our monthly meetings.
C-SALT (Cassidy Senior Adult Living Testimony) is a once-a-month gathering open to anyone age 55+. We meet the third Thursday of each month, at the church, for a variety of fun programs and other activities, plus share either lunch or refreshments. We also take a donation each month to support different local charities. And, we do one-day trips to places of interest a couple times each year. Call the church office at 417-582-3632 for more information and to get more information on the schedule of C-SALT events planned.
Do you want your family to be EPIC? What does EPIC mean? As an adjective it means extending beyond the usual or ordinary…extraordinary, momentous, grand! Well of course as parents/grandparents, most of us want our families to be EPIC. Here at Cassidy, we want to help guide your family to be EPIC – Empowering People In Christ! Yes! That is right, we now have a ministry just for families…EPIC. We have blended families, single parent families, traditional families, grandparents as parents, and so many “types” of families, but in God’s eyes no matter the situation, we all have the same purpose as a family. Empower People In Christ. It can be a struggle for parents and caregivers to guide their children on a Godly path and our hope and vision for this ministry is to make that struggle just a little bit easier. During our quarterly family events, all members of the family are invited and encouraged to attend as we explore our family values and how we can magnify our values to show God to others.
This group is for women ages 20-45 and meets on a monthly basis. These get-togethers provide a time for the ladies of the church to come together and take a break from hectic schedules and long work days. Past meetings include, painting pottery, restaurant dinners, bowling and even a spa night! Consider joining to connect with other young women and enjoy the Christian companionship that is so important in today’s world.
JAM (Jesus and Me) is Cassidy's Children's Ministry Program offered Sunday mornings during both worship services as well as Wednesday night from 6:00PM-7:15PM. JAM serves students grade level PreK-6th grade and we explore bible stories through music, dance, games, videos, drama, puppets, art, prayer, and even science!
On Sunday, the children start out in worship service with their family and are dismissed to children's church. During this time, they will experience a worship service that is catered to their age. Parents may pick up their children after worship service. We will introduce the lesson for the week on Sunday and then explore the lesson even further on Wednesday nights. All students will learn about the same bible story so families may discuss the lessons together. Each group (divided by age) lesson is catered to make it relatable and relevant to their life and appropriate for their understanding.
We are studying the Believe for Children curriculum that offers three sections: First, we explore what we believe and why so we can learn to THINK like Jesus. Second, we will learn about what we should do according to the bible stories so we can learn to ACT like Jesus. Third and most important, we will put what we believe and how we act to BE more like Jesus as we study the ten key virtues (or fruit) that God wants you to grow in your every day life.
Children's Presentation: The first Sunday of each month, the children will present a gift to God and the congregation during both worship services whether it be a song, skit, bible verse, prayer, puppets, liturgical dance or children's bells. During our 10:45AM traditional worship, children return to the service to participate in communion with their families.
Family Worship: On Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Christmas, your child will stay with you during the entire service to allow a chance for your family to worship together. You are your child's biggest model for how to worship God and this gives them a chance to see you in action. Nursery for children ages 0-4 will still be available during our Family Worship Sundays.
Children's Presentation Practice: On Wednesdays from 7:15PM-7:45PM immediately following Wednesday night JAM, any student in Kindergarten and older can learn how to play bells, be a part of our liturgical dance team, sing in children's choir, act in a drama, etc. The children will present the first Sunday of each month on a rotation basis with the groups.
Vacation Bible School: Every summer, we offer a week long adventure where your child can learn about and explore first-hand the power of God and his love. Our VBS is open to anyone and everyone 5th grade and younger! If you are older and would like to volunteer, that is MORE than welcome! It is a great week of fun, fellowship, new friendships, and growing closer to God.
Opportunities to attend a summer camp for all ages is also available each summer. Specific age group information can be obtained from the church office.
Our Safe Sanctuary Program provides an abuse prevention policy and procedures to provide for the physical safety of all of our children and youth. This program addresses selection and education of those who work with children and youth, and operational procedures for all programs and events.
Sunday Youth Nights from 5:30PM-6:30PM for students 7th-12th grade. The night will include bible study and a time to spend time with other youth that love their faith and want to grow closer to Christ, in a fun and meaningful way. Faith discussions, games, music, food and laughter are shared. There will be opportunities for leadership and growth, along with community service projects. Join Billy and Stacy for a time to participate in Church life, develop your faith and spirituality, and create lasting friendships!

We believe in the power of prayer. Our God is a God of love, and out of that love flows the salvation, restoration and wholeness that he longs to bring to his creation. One aspect of the redemptive work of God is the healing of individuals from various forms of physical, emotional, spiritual and relational brokenness. The work of healing through prayer and the laying on of hands was an integral part of the ministry of Jesus as he came to declare and demonstrate the Kingdom of God. Incorporating a prayer team provides an opportunity to minister wholeness, deliverance, peace, healing, reconciliation and the empowerment of individuals according to their needs.
Small groups offer a place to connect with other believers in fellowship; to grow in our understanding of the Bible, as Jesus' own small group of disciples did; to meet the needs of others in your group in ministry; to become equipped for evangelism; and to worship God through practicing godly behavior. But beyond that, a small group Bible study offers a place to connect with other believers and offers a safe place to get your questions answered. Connecting, learning, and praying with others creates a small group that grows into an extended family. We offer small group Bible Studies Wednesday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and Sunday mornings.
For about an hour once a week a Stephen Minister meets with a hurting person who is struggling with a crisis or difficulty in life to listen, care, encourage, and pray. Although not counselors, therapists, problem solvers, or casual visitors, Stephen Ministers bring Christ’s presence into the person’s life and also experience Christ in the other person.
This is a ministry that makes a real difference in people’s lives when they need it the most –a blessing for both the care receiver as well as the Stephen Minister who has the opportunity to experience spiritual growth, develop stronger relational skills, and bring Christ’s love into the lives of hurting people.
Stephen Ministry is a ministry where each person in the entire congregation has an important role to play:
- Some pray that God will bring hope and healing to hurting people through ourStephen Ministry.
- Some will accept care from a Stephen Minister because God does not expect us to bear our burdens alone.
- Still others will tell their friends, neighbors, coworkers, or relatives who are hurting about our Stephen Ministry.
- Finally, others are called to serve. So if you’re a good listener and a compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister.
We are ready to come alongside you, your friends, neighbors, coworkers, or relatives—and provide comfort and support "after" for as long a we are needed. Call 417-725-4949 for more information.
The United Methodist Women's "Rebecca Circle" group meets each Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the church. We have a business meeting the second Tuesday of each month, with lunch afterward. The other Tuesday's of the month are spent working on quilts/lap robes, banners, crafts and fellowship, with a bring-your-own lunch. Rebecca Circle's main focus in missions. We support many different mission projects throughout the year. Some of our main events are Tuesday Dinners on the first Tuesday of every other month, baking and selling pies in September, the Fall Bazaar in October, and a cookie/candy sale in December. We have a rapidly expanding demographic of young families evidenced by the staggering increase of children and youth. Whether you have children or not, marriage presents a unique set of issues. This group will provide a much-needed relaxing fellowship with others and the comfort of knowing there are others with similar concerns. This groups meets on a monthly basis and activities are determined by the group.
We believe at Cassidy United Methodist Church that we need to share God’s love with our community. Not only do we provide enriching ministries within our walls, but we also serve those outside of our walls.
Cassidy UMC has developed an on-going partnership with the Christian County Domestic Violence Center. We provide weekly educational classes with babysitting in such areas as interviewing, legal issues, health care, etc. to help the women live independent lives. We also provide a continuing presence helping as needed with transportation, clothing needs, special activities for the children, Center maintenance, etc. Our ministry with the Domestic Violence Center has provided many of our members with initial opportunities to minister outside the walls of our church.
