The past several years Cassidy has hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner for those in our church who do not have family close by and wanted to celebrate with their church family. We will still be hosting this dinner but would like to open it up to everyone in the area who might need a place to go. We will be advertising to local food banks and help agencies that Cassidy will provide a free Thanksgiving Dinner to anyone who might not otherwise get a hot meal. Your help will be crucial to this make this event a success. We do not know of any other organization in Christian County that offers a meal so please help us make this a successful tradition. We will need lots of help with preparations, food donations, and serving.

We were contacted by Ozark West Elementary and asked if we would be interested in helping with Thanksgiving Baskets for students that receive the weekend backpacks. They suggested items such as canned vegetables, boxed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, cake mixes, fresh fruit, even pancake mix or any other easily prepared items. Or if you would like to donate towards the turkeys, that would be a great help. Our goal is to supply 10 baskets for these families that live in this area.

The 2015 Charge Conference will be held Sunday, November 8, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Aldersgate is located at 460 W. Aldersgate Rd, Nixa MO. The conference starts at 3:00. All church members are invited to attend. The conference reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, sets the salary for the pastor and staff and elects members of the council as recommended by the local church’s nominating and pastor/parish relations committees.

Cassidy will be ringing the Salvation Army bell at the Ozark and Nixa Wal Marts. There are clipboards in the entryway to sign up for a time slot. We will be ringing at Nixa on Friday, Dec. 11 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. We will ring at the Ozark Wal Mart on Friday, Dec 18 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Amy Grubaugh is offering an opportunity for our congregation to volunteer for a very special charity event and have some fun too!  Most of you are probably familiar with the Ronald McDonald House Annual Cup O'Cheer Holiday Homes Tour.  This is the 20th year for the popular fundraiser event!  This year Amy is again looking for volunteers who may be interested in working a 3-hour shift.  There are several volunteer opportunities throughout the day from serving as a hostess in one of the homes, serving tea and pastries at the RMH, shuttle drivers or working at our new Pop-Up Market at Remington's!   For your effort, you will receive a ticket to see the other homes at no cost to you.

The ladies are planning their annual Christmas luncheon for Saturday, Dec. 5 at noon. Tickets are on sale now through Sunday, Nov. 29. They will be $10 ea and will be on sale in the office or on Sunday mornings. Ladies please invite your friends to this beautiful, relaxing luncheon to begin the Holiday season. There will even be a visit from Santa!
